Officials said the Delaware Air National Guard base at New Castle Airport along U.S. 13, is one of the first three units within the allotted land for Cyber Command, which actively support in October.
"It's about these new and upcoming mission," said Maj. Gen. Frank Vavala, adjutant general of the Delaware National Guard. "Cyber war is crucial to the defense of our nation. This puts us at the point of spears to take."
Delaware chosen because of his intellectual gathering, officials said. The number of scientific institutions and banking services based here means that the large stock of chemicals, computer scientists and financial experts to come.
Col. Tom Thomas is one. The computer architect of the Bank of America, Thomas Head of Network Warfare Squadron, which activated in December.
"We have ample degree of skill here in Delaware," he said. "We are in a good place because we are outside the capital."
Thomas can not reveal details about what will go in the building of 9,000 square meters, after it was closed because most of the work will be shared.
He said that the team will focus on the defensive and offensive operations, planning and analysis of threats to information networks, and abroad.
